FPL DGW28: Data Scout XI Results

We were hopeful of hitting anything close to last game weeks score of 90 in this weekends double game week, but we were let down by several key players not continuing their form.

Post-game week analysis:

GK: We predicted Bournemouth to keep a clean sheet against Sheffield United, instead they found themselves scrambling to rescue a match from 2-0 down at home. Despite failing to keep a clean sheet, Neto did make seven saves which brought in two points. In his second match against Luton, Bournemouth had to rescue the match once again. 3-0 at half time, they managed to win 4-3. But Neto did not recieve any extra points. During the selection for keepers we were tossing up between Neto, Areola, and Onana. Initially Onana made it first, but Neto jumped in due to him being involved in a double game week. Neto pulled four points, Onana brought in… 11.

DEF: We are over the moon with our defensive selections this game week. All three returned 5+ points. Doughty provided an assist against Bournemouth, Varane (subbed in for Emerson) had a clean sheet against Everton, and Zabarnyi scored in Bourenmouth’s dramatic comeback win against Luton.

MID: For about the third time this season, the midfield failed to provide anything close to their normal standard of points return. Gross was the only midfielder of four to return over two points. Saka, Bowen, and Douglas Luiz all failed to score or assist in their matches.

FWD: Our captain Solanke may have brought in a total of 16 points, but it could have been much more. He scored just one goal in his two matches, while also missing a penalty. Despite this, he was the best captain choice out of the most selected forwards this weekend. Haaland failed to score, Watkins failed to score, and Morris failed to score.

Emerson originally started in our XI, but did not make an appearance for West Ham, therefore our first defender off the bench came on for him. That player was Varane, who fortunately collected a clean sheet!

It will be difficult to beat last weeks 90 point haul, but we may have a chance. This week sees Bournemouth and Luton playing twice.

GK – Neto, Bournemouth

Neto has averaged 4.6 saves in the last five matches, where he has scored a total of eighteen points (3.6 per game). He has the 7th most clean sheets in the league this season and is about to face up to Sheffield United who have only scored once in their last five games. He also faces Luton who have been goal happy since new years day. He is likely to pick up a clean sheet vs Sheffield and potential save points against Luton.

DEF – Doughty, Luton

Doughty became a superb budget differential pick during GW15-23 where he collected fourty-seven points (5.8 points per game, seven goals & assists). Recently his form has dropped off, but he still holds an attacking threat having picked up an assist in his match vs Aston Villa. Nobody has crossed the ball more than him in the league this season (230).

DEF – Emerson, West Ham

Emerson scored a wonder goal and collected an assist vs Brentford recently, but that isn’t the reason he has made our team this week. West Ham are facing Burnley, a side which defenders have averaged 4.0 points a game against. We are predicting a clean sheet.

DEF – Zabarnyi, Bournemouth

Bournemouth lost Senesi in their last game against Burnley, which has resulted in us looking at other Bournemouth defenders. Nobody else has collected attacking returns in the backline like Senesi so we turned our attention to who Bourenmouth are facing. They host Sheffield, a team which defenders have averaged 4.4 points against. He is unlikely to score points against Luton in this double game week, so we’re banking on Zabarnyi to keep a clean sheet vs Sheffield.

MID – Douglas Luiz, Aston Villa

Douglas Luiz currently averages 7.5 points at home for Aston Villa. He has five goals and assists in his last five home matches, and although they host a tougher side in Tottenham, he could return again from set pieces and the penalty spot. Douglas Luiz has also scored in his last three fixtures against Spurs. Aston Villa have had four penalties this season whereas Spurs have conceded seven. If they were to concede one again in this match, Douglas Luiz would be the one taking it.

MID – Bowen, West Ham

West Ham have not won a single game since GW13 when Bowen has failed to score or assist. During GW20-25 they lost three and drew three, with Bowen returning zero attacking returns. Since then he has been back in the goals, scoring a hattrick against Brentford and providing an assist in their last match against Everton. This game week they host Burnley, a side which midfielders have averaged 4.5 points against this season. We’re backing Bowen to return points this weekend.

MID – Saka, Arsenal

Saka has continued to be everyone’s consistant fantasy points collector, averaging 6.8 points a game. He has ten goals and assists in his last eight matches, including four >= ten point hauls. He plays at home against Brentford, who will need to be careful against this player who is in hot form.

FWD – Gross, Brighton

No other Brighton player has picked up more points that Gross this season (124). He has averaged 5.7 points at home, and this weekend they are hosting Nottingham Forest. Midfielders have averaged 3.8 points against Forest this season, we could see another return from the man with three assists in his last two home matches.

FWD – Watkins, Aston Villa

A player who should be in everyone’s teams this season without question. Ollie Watkins has averaged 6.4 points at home this season, scoring seven goals and assisting eight times. That’s 1.1 goals & assists per home game. He has picked up four goals and assists in his last six matches against Spurs.

FWD – Morris, Luton

Despite not having won once in their last eight matches, Carlton Morris has provided seven goals and assists. He has averaged 7.1 points a game in this period and is coming up against Crystal Palace and Bournemouth.

FWD – Solanke (c), Bournemouth

While failing to score in his last two matches, Solanke is a solid captaincy pick for this double game week. He faces a Sheffield side which forwards have averaged 4.4 points against, and a Luton side which forwards have averaged 4.8 points against. He is currently averaging 4.4 points a game at home, having scored six goals. His away form is more spectacular but he isn’t someone to shy away from this weekend.

Subs: Areola (GK, West Ham), Martinelli (MID, Arsenal), Varane (DEF, Manchester United), Gabriel (DEF, Arsenal).
