FPL DGW34: Data Scout XI Results

A great week for those who brought in a very special Palace forward!

GK Points: 5. No clean sheets in either game for Liverpool, however Becker did pick up eight saves. Liverpool were poor this game week which has led to low points from their players.

DEF Points: 48. Arsenal returned to top form against Chelsea this game week with a 5-0 demolition job. Gabriel secured two clean sheets this game week alongside White, who scored twice against Chelsea. Despite no clean sheets, Alexander-Arnold did score a wonderful free kick against Fulham securing ten points in our team.

MID Points: 44. It’s hard to believe Salah even played this game week. He didn’t start against Fulham, making an appearance in the second half, but started against Everton where he completely ghosted. Three points from Liverpool’s talisman over two games is very poor, it seems his points return will be low from now to the end of the season. Saka played well but only managed one attacking return from Arsenal’s seven goals this game week. One of the most popular transfers this game week was Palace’s Eze, who scored a brilliant acrobatic goal against West Ham followed by an assist. Our wildcard choice this week was Brereton Diaz who, as we predicted, scored against Manchester United in a great game.

FWD Points: 45. Watkins played only once this game week, however he did pick up two assists at home against Bournemouth. Solanke scored in that match against Villa also. The standout player this game week is Palace’s Mateta. Like Eze, he was one of the most transferred picks this week and he rewarded every owner with four goals in two matches.

We’re proud of securing 142 points this game week, however there have been some managers who managed 200+!

GK – Becker, Liverpool

Might be the best pick in goal this weekend, Becker starts for us. We’re expecting two low scoring fixtures for Liverpool away against Fulham and Everton. Goalkeepers away vs Everton have averaged 5.5 points this season, and 4.2 away at Fulham.

DEF – Gabriel, Arsenal

Despite their recent woes agaisnt Villa and Bayern Munich, we have selected two Arsenal defenders due to their impressive defensive performance this season. Away from home, Arsenal have conceded the least goals per game (0.7 goals). Gabriel has averaged 4.6 points per away game, and provides an aerial threat in the box from corners.

DEF – White, Arsenal

As mentioned above, Arsenal have been excellent away from home this season. They are also playing at home this game week against Chelsea. Benjamin White has averaged more points away from home than any defender this season with 5.0, and at home he has averaged 4.1. He also has seven goals and assists this season.

DEF – Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool

He is finally back from injury. Alexander-Arnold makes our starting XI against Fulham and Everton. With both games away from home, TAA averages the fourth most points away from home with 3.9 (behind White, Gabriel, and Saliba). He also holds the potential for at least a clean sheet. The Merseyside derby at Goodison Park has been less than exciting in recent years too, with eight of the last ten fixtures ending in a draw, five of them 0-0.

MID – Salah, Liverpool

Liverpool’s talisman has been off the boil recently, but you can never write him off. Although historically his attacking returns do drop off towards the end of every season, he is a concern. Despite this, he makes our XI. Averaging 6.8 points per away game (joint-highest with Saka in the league), he could be the difference against a plucky, low blocking Everton side.

MID – Saka (c), Arsenal

Bukayo Saka has averaged 6.4 points per game this season, and has the highest expected assists per 90 (0.35). He also has 5.63 shot-creating actions per 90, leaving him a constant threat for the opposition.

MID – Eze, Crystal Palace

Midfielders hosting Newcastle have averaged 4.6 points, and 3.4 at home against West Ham. Palace are hosting both these teams. Despite his unhappy returns this season, we’re backing Eze to make a difference this game week. He goes into the game after scoring the winning goal at Anfield last weekend.

MID – Brereton Diaz, Sheffield United

Brereton Diaz may look like a wildcard, but hear us out. His two fixtures are suprisingly favourable. They face Burnley at home and Manchester United away. Midfielders versus Burnley have averaged 4.0 points, and Manchester United have allowed 31 shots per game against them in their last sixteen games in all competitions. This is a lot, and something Diaz could exploit, even if they don’t win the game.

FWD – Solanke, Bournemouth

Solanke has performed better away from home for FPL points this season, averaging 5.3 (home: 4.5), and takes part in a double game week where he plays away twice. He is up against a Villa defence who do concede goals at home (1.4 per home game), as well as Wolves (1.5 per home game).

FWD – Watkins, Aston Villa

Despite only playing once this game week, Watkins makes our starting XI. Dare we need to say why? He has been on fire this season, and doesn’t appear to be letting off as we reach the end of the season. He has thirty-four goals and assists in the league this season from a combined expected G+A of 19.1. That’s an overperformance of +15. He is currently providing 1.1 goals or assists per 90.

FWD – Mateta, Crystal Palace

Mateta has been in good form recently with six goals and assists in his last ten game weeks. He collected 1.1 xG in his last match vs Liverpool but failed to score, but he is getting into good scoring positions.

Subs: Pickford (GK, Everton), Mykolenko (DEF, Everton), Diaby (MID, Aston Villa), Dalot (DEF, Manchester United).
