FPL DGW35: Data Scout XI Results

A good scoring week secured by Newcastle’s good home form.

GK Points: 10. Another home clean sheet ensured a maximum return of points for Pickford, who also made four saves to sprinkle a bit extra on top.

DEF Points: 3. Not the best week for our defence. Schar came off injured early in the second half against Sheffield United, White was denied a clean sheet against Spurs due to two avoidable goals from errors by Raya and Rice, and Reguilon was unable to assist Brentford in scoring or keeping a clean sheet.

MID Points: 37. Like clockwork, Son scored in the North London Derby at home with a customary Spurs penalty. Gordon assisted Guimaraes before winning a penalty, giving him two assists on fantasy football. Our captain Palmer had a quiet game week, only managing eight points in total thanks to a fortunate “assist” from a free kick shot-cum-pass. His effort hit the woodwork only for Jackson to head the ball into the net, and this counted as an assist. Odegaard was instrumental in the win against Spurs for Arsenal, however he was unable to provide a direct attacking return on points.

FWD Points: 17. Watkins came in for Foden who was missing from the Man City squad but failed to return points, as did Solanke. Our only forward to score/assist this game week was our ever reliable home pick, Isak.

We’re nearing the end of the season now..

GK – Pickford, Everton

Everton are fourth in the league for goals conceded per home game. However they do host a Brentford side who have found their goal scoring form. While his clean sheet may be in doubt, we’re expecting him to be busy enough to pick up save points.

DEF – Schar, Newcastle

Newcastle are hosting a Sheffield side who have scored 0.9 goals per away game. Schar has a possible clean sheet arriving in this game, as well as any attacking returns. He has scored and assisted four times in his last ten game weeks. Defenders against Sheffield have also averaged 4.0 points per game this season.

DEF – White, Arsenal

Arsenal go into the north london derby as favourites, with our model giving them a winning probability of 0.67 per cent to Spurs’ 0.13 per cent. Our model also predicts another potential shut out from Arsenal, with the odds for both teams to score at over evens. Last season, Arsenal won the game in spectacular fashion. A 2-0 dominate win marked the potential end of defeats for Arsenal away at Spurs. We’ve chosen Ben White this week due to his good form. He scored twice last game week against Chelsea, although one was a fluked cross, and had two clean sheets. No defender this season has scored more fantasy points than Ben White.

DEF – Reguilon, Brentford

Reguilon is Brentford’s top performing defender for points in the last ten game weeks, averaging 3.5 points per game. He has six assists in his last ten fixtures, providing a crucial part of Brentford’s recent attacking resurgance.

MID – Son, Tottenham Hotspur

Son is taking part in a double game week for Spurs where he faces arch rivals and title chasers Arsenal, and mid-table Chelsea. He has seven goals and assists in his last ten game weeks, making him Spurs’ top performing player in recent form.

MID – Gordon, Newcastle

Newcastle are playing at home, which means Gordon rejoins our team. A must have for this game week as he faces up against the worst defence in the league in Sheffield United. He has averaged 7.6 points per game at home this season. He is second behind Watkins for goal-creating actions in the Premier League, with 23.

MID – Palmer (c), Chelsea

Playing twice this game week, facing Aston Villa and Tottenham. Both tough fixtures, but if Chelsea are to score any goals he will likely have some involvement. Has averaged 7.4 points per game this season.

MID – Foden, Manchester City

Back in the team for Manchester City in their last game against Brighton, scoring twice. This weekend they travel to relegation battlers Nottingham Forest. Away from home he has averaged 5.7 points.

MID – Odegaard, Arsenal

Nobody has more shot-creating actions than Odegaard this season, with 189. He has picked up great form recently with Arsenal pushing Manchester City for the title at the end of the season. He has nine goals and assists in his last ten game weeks, and has averaged 6.5 points per away game this season.

FWD – Isak, Newcastle

Like Gordon, Isak has been performing excellently at home this season compared to away. He has averaged 7.3 points per home game, scoring seven goals in his last ten game weeks. They face Sheffield United this weekend, the league’s worst defence.

FWD – Solanke, Bournemouth

Solanke gets the nod ahead of Watkins this week as he faces a Brighton side which forwards have averaged 5.8 points against at home this season. He has recently hit his goal scoring form again recently, scoring three goals in his last four home matches.

Subs: Raya (GK, Arsenal), Watkins (FWD, Aston Villa), Tarkowski (DEF, Everton), Bassey (DEF, Fulham).
