Results from the Weekend bets
No bets from me this week due to the international break (I don’t bet on those currently), so this post is just to discuss the results from the weekend just gone. Finally, a profit! After two articles in a row of losses, I’ve hit a profit again. My total profit/loss is up to +£164.35 after 85 bets, win rate: 55.3%.
Going to start with the match which finished the weekend off; Atletico Madrid v Barcelona. Wow, I bet on Madrid to not lose. 70 mins in and they went 2-0 up, I felt that bet was secure. They somehow threw it away and lose 4-2 with two goals coming in injury time. Bit of a blow but it’s fine, at least Inter reeled in the goods for me at the same time.
I bet on Wolves and Forest to win, and those odds given at the time were incredibly off. Not sure why that was the case but both bets won, Forest won quite resoundingly. I didn’t realise until writing this up but Atletico Madrid did the exact same thing as Alaves for me this weekend (except threw the points away completely). They were coasting 2-0 up against Las Palmas, but drew 2-2 thanks to two goals in injury time for the hosts. That bet went from winning to stake return. It’s funny how quickly these matches can turn, you’re never secure until the final whistle.
I finally lost money betting on Everton. I’m yet to watch this game back, but a glance at the match statistics suggests 1-1 was the correct scoreline. Four draws in a row now for the Toffees. Will keep an eye off Blackburn for a bit now unless it’s to back the other team, they’re struggling early on with their new manager. That bet lost. Oxford somehow won a match too, Watford let me down there. Both bets I probably shouldn’t have made to be honest but it’s what it is.
Brentford, well the bet was correct… it won and it’s another away win for Brentford, but they really shouldn’t have won that match according to the xG score. Bournemouth failed to score from 1.67 xG, apart from an own goal by Brentford (which doesn’t count towards xG).
Arsenal turned Chelsea over relatively easily too, just one goal needed in that one. Sheffield United enjoyed their win against rivals Wednesday. That bet felt really safe, although the scoreline was tight. And finally, Bilbao inflicted another home loss for Sevilla. That bet also felt safe.
I won 50% of the bets this weekend, leaving me with a +£12.40 profit. Not as much as I’d have liked but it’s profit! See you again after the internationals.
